Copywriting & Copyediting: Select Samples Across Genres
Overview
As a synopsis writer at Netflix, my goal was to clearly communicate the unique, compelling attributes of every title, from kids’ content and romantic comedies to true crime documentaries and provocative stand-up comedy specials. Title descriptions had a twofold aim: 1) to use a savvy, approachable, and tonally-appropriate voice that helped define Netflix’s brand identity as that of a fan, and 2) to bolster decision-making and engender trust in Netflix promotions and recommendations. Closing the final, critical yard between the member and the title, a synopsis would set up an expectation for the content to come, and lay the groundwork for long-term product satisfaction — a deceptively simple task to accomplish in the 120 to 250-character limit!
